Laser hair removal applies beams of highly concentrated energy, aimed to penetrate the hair follicles, and destroy the roots within those hair follicles. The laser energy kills the roots of the hair that are in the growth phase at the time of the treatment.
The Spirit Active 918 system is the safest method of laser hair removal for all skin types, including darker skin tones where melanin is much more sensitive to the heat used by lasers.
The Spirit Active 918 laser hair removal system for the simple reason that it is virtually pain free. Most clients only experience a gentle warming sensation in the area being treated which is much less compared with other types of laser hair removal.
Even if you have had laser hair treatment in the past it is always advisable to have a patch test which will help ensure that your skin is suitable for laser hair removal. As well as checking that there are no adverse reactions, our laser therapist will also be able to tailor the machine’s settings to your personal requirements for maximum safety.
When it comes to laser hair removal it’s important that you book in your treatments regularly to help treat the hairs during the Anagen phase of growth. Because only around 10 – 15% of your hair is at this stage at any time, spreading out the treatment over a period of between 5 – 8 weeks will help ensure that all your hair is targeted.
As we mentioned before each treatment will normally target around 10 -15% of your hair so for most people they will need between 6 and 8 treatments to see the best results. For areas that are more resistant to treatment such as the face or groin, you may need additional treatments.
You should avoid all forms of hair removal apart from shaving prior to treatment. Waxing, threading, or hair removal creams can cause problems and react with the laser so these should be avoided for the period 6 weeks before treatment. Around 8 hours prior to treatment you should shave the target area as this will help to ensure that the laser is targeted at the hair’s follicles and that it is not heating up hair outside the skin which can cause discomfort.
Unlike a lot of other laser hair removal systems, Soprano’s ICE Laser can safely be used to treat naturally suntanned skin. We’d still recommend staying away from sunbeds and fake tan prior to your treatment, but you don’t have to worry about avoiding being out in the sun.
According to multiple studies, the Spirit Active 918 system is the safest method of laser hair removal for all skin types, including darker skin tones where melanin is much more sensitive to the heat used by lasers. Of course, we’d always recommend an initial consultation and skin patch test prior to treatment to double check suitability and ensure that there are no adverse reactions.
